The Scheduling and Resource Management component adds automated time-based inventory management and conflict resolution (conflict resolution available in version 4.1) to Training Events (event-based training activities).

Olé’s reusable Training Activities are created by aggregating Lesson Objects and Modules into reusable course presets. The presets can be used again and again to produce scheduled Training Events. Typically, Training Events are used for traditional classroom-based training activities rather than eLearning, although virtual classroom (synchronous) training activities can also be scheduled to provide a truly Blended Learning solution.

“Lesson Objects” help automate lesson planning by establishing time durations and lesson plan information for units of instruction. “Modules” are optional and can be used to aggregate Lesson Objects so they can be managed as a collection. A number of Modules and/or Lesson Objects can be associated with a Training Activity to complete the definition of the course preset (and Lesson Plan).

At the operations level, training managers project and shape resource utilization and access business intelligence that is automatically gathered by the system. This allows the viewing in real time of: available classes, booked classes, and student rosters.

Standard and custom reports (Crystal Reports) assist management in the optimization of training activities within a complex organization.

Resource types include: Instructors, Classrooms, Equipment and Special Equipment . Instructors can be “qualified” to instruct Lesson Objects, Modules or Training Activities.  Instructor qualifications also extend to languages or categories of Training Activities.

Automatic Notifications such as: Training Event confirmations or cancellations, student enrollment applications, etc. can be generated for items managed in the schedule.

Training planners have the ability to use the Olé “Virtual Planning Board” to lay out Training Events across a timeline and explore “what if?” scenarios. The Intelligent Tool Tips function assists managers in identifying and resolving potential resource conflicts between resource types and the master training schedule.
